10 Trudeau Truths with Domenic Cappalli
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in human services?
I have been in the accounting field my entire career. I decided to pursue a career in this space because I felt it was a way to use my skills to help people.
2. What do you find most rewarding about your job?
I enjoy working with the program directors to discuss the financial performance of their programs. It reinforces the reason we are all here, which is to care for people.
3. Can you describe a memorable moment or success story from your time working at Trudeau?
My children had given me a Boston Bruins lanyard for my work badge. I was at Pathways and a student wanted to have it. I checked with the Behavior Tech to make sure if was appropriate to give it to him and when I gave him the lanyard, he had the biggest smile and hugged me!
4. What’s something about developmentally disabled people (or working with them) that you wish other people knew or better understood?
There is no difference at all between a person with a disability and a person that does not have a disability. Everyone has the same feelings and needs and should be treated exactly the same.
5. What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend?
Having a cigar and spending time with my wife and children.
6. Favorite book, movie, and/or TV show.
I enjoy books and shows about true crime. I also enjoy watching cooking shows.
7. Do you have any pets?
I have a 15-year-old Labradoodle named Dustin.
8. What’s your favorite food?
Pasta, pasta, pasta!
9. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would like to visit Italy so I can learn more about my heritage.
10. What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
As a kid, I loved professional wrestling. I have found YouTube channels that show the old matches, which I love watching!
