Making Waves of Progress: Early Intervention Families Share Success Stories from SafeSplash Partnership
At the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center, we believe in the transformative power of specialized therapy that meets children where they are—both developmentally and in environments where they can thrive. Our partnership with SafeSplash Swim Group Warwick has created remarkable opportunities for children in our Early Intervention program to develop crucial skills through aquatic therapy.
Water provides a uniquely supportive environment where children can build strength, coordination, confidence, and social skills. For many children with developmental delays or disabilities, the pool becomes a space where therapy feels like play, creating the perfect conditions for growth and progress.
The impact of this program speaks for itself through the heartfelt testimonials from our families:
Building Confidence and Physical Skills
“Pool group has been such a source of joy! Every week, Annie is enthusiastically splashing and kicking in the water, enjoying the activities, as we build on the work we do in physical therapy. She has gained both confidence and comfort in the water. She is no longer afraid to get her face wet or move through the water while holding her body in different positions. Annie’s face lights up when it’s time to run across the large floating water mat, showing everyone in the pool just how much progress she has made and how excited she is to be a part of this group! We are so grateful for this community!”

Transforming Social Engagement
Joining the pool group has been life-changing for Cameron. Before starting, he was withdrawn and had little interest in engaging with other children. However, thanks to the incredible patience and dedication of the team, he now eagerly interacts with everyone, including the other children. One of the most heartwarming milestones was when he began blowing kisses, especially to his favorite therapist, something we never imagined would happen so soon. The skills he’s gained in the pool have not only strengthened his social interactions but have also helped him become a more adventurous and curious toddler at home. We are beyond grateful for the remarkable progress and support he’s received through this program.”

Developing Strength and Coordination
“Gio absolutely loves being in the water! I was thrilled when aquatic therapy was recommended for him. It’s exciting to see the progress he has made from the group and individual sessions. His overall muscle strength has increased. His balance and coordinated skills have improved. He has done things for the very first time while in the pool and has been able to transition many of these skills to outside the pool. Not only is it so good for him from a therapy perspective he is always so happy and eager to get into the pool and start each session!”

Expanding Language and Social Confidence
“Since Susanna began participating in the pool group, I have seen an explosion of development in both her language skills and confidence. She is regularly speaking in sentences of 4-5 words now. She has always been very shy around other people, but the pool group has given her the chance to get more comfortable around peers, as well as be more vocal around adults outside her immediate family. All week she talks about going to the pool, the fun skills she gets to practice there like kicking and singing, and her friends she gets to see. We’re very grateful to have the opportunity to participate.”
